Severe Weather Threat - December 12-14, 2022

I've always wondered. Could SPC issue a tornado watch then upgrade it to PDS if necessary? I don't know if that has happened before or if they could do that.

The Gaylord EF3 a few months back came out of a 20/5 severe thunderstorm watch, during that event the SPC went the route of issuing an MD for the cell itself as opposed to putting out an updated/upgraded WW. With that said I wouldn't imagine it being totally out of the realm of possibility, though as @KevinH said things would have to take a very, very drastic turn for the worse.

Thankfully the CC drop associated with the tornado headed for the Shreveport metro doesn't look quite as defined with the most recent scan, but it is in a very rural area and velocity still looks healthy...
