Hurricane Category 4 Hurricane Helene

Models have slowed down landfall. Closer to 10pm CDT opposed to 7pm CDT. I still think the east track is most likely. The GEPS drastically shifted east overnight, and the tropical models are moving east as well. The HRRR and 3KM NAM basically show this making landfall where Hurricane Idalia did last year.

Recon just measured 120 mph winds at flight level. I'm assuming this would support 110 mph at the surface.

Is it just me or in recent frames, is Helene moving more easterly than north? It looks like her center is entirely outside the cone at the moment.

I know we touched on this briefly yesterday, but with all the rain Georgia has gotten over the last couple of days, this may be a concern. Thoughts?

I'm thinking that's an optical illusion as the little clear area has rotated around to right side of the larger uncleared eye.

Tornado warning including the Charlotte airport and some of the more populated suburbs. Wild that this stuff is going on before we start getting the flooding/tornado impacts from the actual hurricane.

Yep, I live just North of there in the LKN area and they are popping up all around! I'm told it's from the front, not Helene though! We are currently under a Tropical Storm Warning.

OK, I'm going to say it - Helene is weird. These concentric eyes and their reforming over and over is just odd.

In today's stupid, on the social media thing formerly known as twitter, #HurricaneHelen and Cat 5 are trending.
