Yikes, that's a lot of miles per hour. There'll also be very heavy rain, and when winds are whipping, even raindrops pelt relentlessly, not to mention actual debris.

I'm not going to update every time I see a wind increase, and I honestly have no clue how accurate velocity scans are in a hurricane, but the latest scan I just saw 170+ mph. If that is true, I think that 100% translates to cat 5 surface winds.

After some time of moving ENE, it seems like Helene might be moving westward a bit. This would, obviously, be bad news for Tallahassee.

At this point, I'm not so sure any additional strengthening is going to make much of a difference. It's already bad enough as an upper level level Cat 4. Both Cat 4 and 5 are categorized as 'catastrophic' on the scale. This completely sucks for anyone in her path - coastal and upstream/inland.
