Winter Weather Season 2025-26

It's early, but next weekend looks interesting. Either gonna be a heavy rainfall or winter event

Jackson, Next weekend: Weather details are highly uncertain given the many different model solutions on when the polar air will make return. It appears we'll have a strong temperature gradient across the area and this will help to maintain unsettled weather. Next weekend will be a good window of time to monitor for forecast changes. /EC/

Have ya’ll seen the potential for 1/25 ?
GFS ensembles are all over the place on that one, as expected at that range. Worth watching though.

Nice! Looking at satellite looks like the snow melted off very fast! Can you confirm?

I had to leave for Birmingham around 9 this morning but it was already starting to melt. There probably won’t be much if any left when I get back this evening

In the words of the great Jim Ross, business has just pick up.

I cannot remember the last time each forecast model at 12z depicted a major winter storm/ice storm within the 10 day timeframe.

12z Euro would be the worse case scenario. For the record, North MS has not had a major ice storm (greater than 1 inch) since February 1994, so we are overdue for one. The most ice I've seen personally has been a quarter inch.

50 hours of an ice storm starting in west TX all the way to the SC coast. Nasty bad scenario. Here's hoping it is a week-out model hallucination.

Just to point out on @Sky_I565 post, the 12z Euro AI Ensemble total snow is not all snow. That total also includes freezing rain and sleet. Just wanted to clarify that.

The biggest eye opening thing to me and why this so concerning is that all 3 models are showing this happening within 7 days plus Spann is already talking about it. I mean I wouldn't be as concerned if it was just the GFS showing it. Also, the other reason why something like this should happen is because it fits the current weather pattern. 18z GFS will be very interesting.
