Any update on the weekend system? I know a couple mentioned it was going to be the bigger threat this week.

The bigger threat this week is going to be tomorrow, and then we have probably the biggest of them all coming next Monday or sometime next week.

Pay attention to this Friday/Saturday. Models have been slowing down the system which permits better instability to work into AL. Very strong kinematics over sufficient instability would probably yield yet another severe weather episode. Uncertainty still exists, but the trends have been toward better instability overlapping strong shear.

Am I right in saying that next week is still looking like the bigger threat? For some reason I can't see any of the models right now. My internet has been awful generally lately.

Yeah Friday 13th area still looking quite ominous. Potent shortwave diving from Rockies with plent deep
Moisture and instability out ahead...
Possibly looking at a multi day threat down the road

We need to start preparing for a potentially high risk event about 8-9 days from today. This is BAD.

Whoa...am I the only one who gets a slight Palm Sunday '65 vibe from this? I'm obviously not saying we'll see a mega-outbreak like that, but this is looking nasty right now. Holy crap.

I did too. The late-season snowfall in parts of the affected area is another parallel, although that year as I recall reading Michigan actually got a significant blizzard a few days before the outbreak.
