Dorian is a few days away from South Carolina, but the governor has ordered mandatory evacuations along the coast.

From the latest NHC advisory on #Dorian: “The hurricane will move dangerously close to the Florida east coast late Monday through Tuesday night.”

One thing to note. The hurricane models which are initializing this storm at the correct low pressure (915mb) is taking it further west than global which are improperly initializing the system well above actual readings.

I wonder why that is that they are improperly initializing it.

It’s only moving 5 mph and still 140 miles away from the coast. Plenty of time to shift and it will. If it speeds up, could be really bad for Florida. If your county touches the Atlantic Ocean, wouldn’t be a bad idea to go over a county over and get a hotel or evacuate.

It'll probably wobble around for another 12-18 hours and get uncomfortably close to Florida with impacts, but I can see this pulling a 2016 Matthew and not officially making landfall until North Carolina (if it does).
