I don't know if this includes NOAA employees, and if it does, how many.
 
According to the Anchorage Daily News, both the Alaska and Hawaii volcano observatories may lose their leases.

The article also mentions some NOAA offices up there, among others, and describes the slapdash methods of DOGE "cuts."

This is so dumb. It only proves what we knew - there was no plan other than to slash, slash, slash.

Yes, the government workforce is bloated.

Yes, reductions should be made.

But put some thought into it before you go upending people's lives.

Are you saying Kristof, a Pulitzer-prize winning journalist with decades of experience in the developing world, made this story up? Do you have any evidence of that, or are you just rejecting it because it doesn't align with your political views?

Pulitzer Prize ?? What a joke ! The Pulitzer was hi-jacked by the Left a long time ago. You do not understand, do you ? The Left owns and runs all these media organizations. The Pulitzer is made fun of by the Right. I know someone who has won the or a Pulitzer and is poked fun of his Left leanings every time his name is brought up in the news.

So, yeah, no evidence, just rejecting anything that challenges your worldviews rather than engage in critical thinking. Thank you, this has been an illuminating back and forth on how you view the world and inability to engage those of differing opinions.

You're welcome! Glad I could enlighten you a bit on how your legacy news sources are viewed by others. There is a reason many of these legacy media organizations have tanked. Why is this ?

Okay, you are correct but they talk about current events. Along with the opinions and joking, most of it is factual. What you call facts are lies by the legacy media. At least what is related to politics. Again, all the legacy media is in the gutter. Why ? Because people have caught on to their lies and propaganda. the legacy viewership tanked right after the election. Why ? People saw through it and what low information viewers they had ,left. The Right social media/podcasters killed legacy media. Its gone !
 
? What's the assumption? The data pretty clearly shows that folks with a lower educational attainment voted significantly more for Trump than Harris. How is that hypocritical?

Compared to the last 30 years, that's a very wide split. Prior to Trump, the gap was not that significant. Ever since 2016, we've seen folks with less education flock to the GOP, with the 2024 gap being the widest.
