Looks like the NHC is going to name the system in the Gulf. Will bring lots of rain and some severe weather to Southern LA and Eastern MS and Western AL.

They happen about once a year or so on average. Generally they don’t get to more than strong tropical storm strength. But the unusual thing about this one is where it is. They usually form in the western and central Mediterranean, closer to Spain and Italy, not in the eastern Mediterranean like this one. It could cause some big problems for the southeast coast of the Mediterranean because of the amount of rain it could produce over relatively arid areas.Not going to lie... I have never heard of this phenomenon
