This is late tonight early tommorow morning. Won't be violent tornadoes is there is some but definitely a chance along the boundary. Don't sleep on this. Updraft swaths doesn't mean tornadoes just fyi. Screenshot_2023-03-25-15-24-08-36_40deb401b9ffe8e1df2f1cc5ba480b12.jpg

Has the look of low-mid EF4s of the recent past (Beauregard, Cookeville) in regards to the tree damage and overall look of the scene, haven't seen much extreme vehicle damage but we've also seen that be inconclusive (Cookeville didnt have much while Beauregard did)

Some of the first looks at damage from isolated areas outside main damage locations - this certainly looks intense with significant contextual damage as well. Slightly reminds me of some of the damage from the EF4s in Texas on November 4th last year.

Wow so they're actually is a slim chance of it being a ef5. Bringing in another damage assessor?

They have to have multiple ef5 markers if I'm correct...? to be able to give it a ef5 ranking, doubt it happens but surprised at the slim chance of a ef5 rating.

@buckeye05 would know that answer.

The fact that they are considering bringing in another survey team tells me a LOT.

I don’t think it necessarily means they are considering EF5 ratings - you just need a QRT to go above an EF3 rating.

Also, only one EF5 DI is necessary for an EF5 rating. Needing more than one was just the terrible excuse the NWS used to keep Vilonia at EF4 rating in 2014.

I mean if you read the post yes it does. There's definite ef4 damage so bringing in another team to make sure it's just ef4 I guess instead of into the ef5.

He said he doesn't know if it'll be ef4/5 range so my take is that it's close. But what do I know

Quick question on that - Bassfield 2020, was the well constructed, anchored cabin that was slabbed rated EF4? I think there’s been some talk that a singular house can’t actually be rated “EF5” that it requires contextual evidence

I think the main reason for Bassfield not being rated EF5 at that cabin was because there was a lack of high end context (no scouring, minor debarking iirc) and because apparently a truck impacted the structure directly (I don’t know how that could be exactly confirmed though). I still reckon if the slabbed homes at Bremen or the damage at Vilonia where surveyed under NWS Jackson, they might have rated it higher - though of course that is speculation as there is no real way of telling. At least the survey will be thorough (hopefully!) unlike some others in the last decade or so…
