Severe WX Sunday March 3 Severe Threat

657 PM EST SUN MAR 3 2019

...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 715 PM EST FOR CENTRAL
LEXINGTON COUNTY...

At 657 PM EST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Red Bank, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Weather spotters reported a funnel cloud. Downed trees were
reported just south of Gilbert with this storm.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is
likely.

Locations impacted include...
Lexington, West Columbia, Cayce, Springdale, Oak Grove, Red Bank, St.
Andrews, South Congaree, Pine Ridge, Riverbanks Zoo, SC State
Farmer's Market, Columbia Metro Airport, West Columbia Riverwalk,
Cayce Riverwalk, Silver Lake, Guignard Park, Barr Lake, Dixiana and
Red Bank Sports Complex.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 126 near mile marker 0.
Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 47 and 64.
Interstate 26 Interstate 77 between mile markers 0 and 2.

Honestly I think that statement warrants a TORR.
 
There have been more fatalities from tornadoes today than there was all of last year combined. So sad and scary. Just crazy how a violent tornado outbreak can claim dozens of lives.
For sure, in fact most of the deaths on 4/27/2011 were caused by just five tornadoes (Hackleburg/Phil Campbell, Tuscaloosa, Rainsville, Smithville, and Ohatchee/Piedmont). The Hackleburg/Phil Campbell tornado alone caused more deaths than an average year, and didn't even hit any major cities (to my knowledge the biggest town it hit was Tanner).
