China once again experienced an intense tornado
At this point I wonder if China is going to get an EF5 or something. This season has been insane over there.Man, this year is like China's 2011 isn't it?
Some sad news out of the recent tornadoes in China:
I hope this year of high tornadic activity in China will convince Chinese meteorologists to start putting more effort into tornado forecasting & documenting.stodgy and conformist
Your efforts are definitely appreciated here, that’s for sure.Actually this is the worst case senario you could imagine, a rain-wrapped wedge moving into an urban city.....hope these victims ok...
I don't count on local authorities to announce the total injuries or fatalities, cuz hiding this so-called "sensitive" information in China has always been a tradition.Typhoon Lekima in 2019 brought historic flash flood in Shandong Province and spawned no less than 2 tors, but so far I've never heard about the any economic loss or brief summary of this disaster, neither the tornadoes were confirmed.
I was held on to the opinion that Chinese enthusiasts and offical meteorologists come from different world, for those meteorologists, they're stodgy and conformist,as an enthusiast however, I really hope I can do my best the push the Chinese tornado research forward, that's why I just keep collecting information from mass media and urge those meteorologists and surveyors to do damage surveys or case analysis more closely.
I swear I saw some of these on YouTube back around 2012 or so but they may have since been pulled for whatever reason, perhaps some of them are on TORNADO VIDEO CLASSICS? Perhaps someone at NOAA might know where to start looking, or that college in Texas that has lots of Fujita's damage surveys and aerials? So, I recently found out that there are videos of extensive aerial surveys of several 5/31/85 tornado tracks, including Atlantic, Tionesta, Kane, Moshannon, Beaver Falls, Johnstown OH, Barrie and possibly Niles-Wheatland. I haven't had any luck tracking them down so far, partly because I haven't had much time to devote to it, but I know they exist(ed?) and were all either shown publicly or sold on home video.
I have the same feeling with you, I actually doubt the death toll of Funing had reached over 200, the first rescue team who arrived at the scene said that they're bodies everywhereWas the death toll from Funing 2016 really 99? Such a weird figure, and part of me wonders if they didn’t want the official toll to go into the triple digits.
