Severe WX Severe Weather Threat - Jan 2nd - Jan 4th, 2023

You've got it right :)

Edit: If you're ever unsure, this site's super straightforward and includes figures demonstrating zone time differences from GMT: https://time.is/GMT
This is what I do in my head:

09 (Z time given)
-5 (during EST)

That equals 04…. 0400 in military time is 4am ET

During DST, I subtract 4 from the Z time and “convert” that number from military (24h) time to the 12 hour time.
So…..
09 (Z time)
-4 (during EDT)

That equals 5… 0500 in military time is 5AM ET, lol

The tornado warned storm in Sabine County, LA looks like bad news.

intense mesocyclone if not a tornado

Small meso discussion for the area of those LA cells, mentioning the threat for strong, brief tornadoes increasing.

Perhaps like this? I can't believe this wasn't on the ground, but there never was an obvious TDS.

Yep!

“And, favorable/increasing low-level hodograph curvature (150-200 m2/s2 0-1 km SRH) per SHV VWP data should support a few discrete or semi-discrete supercells capable of producing tornadoes (some possibly strong but mostly brief) and damaging gusts.”
