Jena is having a rough day. The tornado now looks like it is passing very near where the earlier one did.

Based on model guidance from last night through now, I think I'll be starting in Austell, GA and chasing SE towared Fayetteville then back NE toward Henry/Rockdale/Newton depending on conditions.

What's interesting is that even though there seem to be fairly large number of tornadoes, I haven't seen photos of clear EF2+ damage yet. That being said the main risk tornadic risk is just starting.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Tornado Watch for portions of
Southeastern Louisiana
Central and southern Mississippi

* Effective this Sunday afternoon and Monday morning from 450 PM
until 200 AM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
A few tornadoes likely with a couple intense tornadoes possible
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
Isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible

SUMMARY...The tornado and organized severe-wind threat will increase
through the remainder of this evening as a warm front moves across
the region ahead of a line of thunderstorms initially in Louisiana.
That line will sweep into the watch area, absorbing nearby
supercells and generating its own circulations, with embedded
tornadoes possible. A few separate supercells also should occur
ahead of the line, offering tornadoes and isolated large hail. See
SPC mesoscale discussion 405 for initial meteorological reasoning.

The tornado watch area is approximately along and 65 statute miles
east and west of a line from 30 miles east southeast of Baton Rouge
LA to 40 miles east northeast of Greenwood MS. For a complete

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for
tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
and possible warnings.

unfortunately, it seems most of the storms are in a bit of a radar hole right now. Not an awful one, but a radar hole nonetheless. With limited visibility from chasers, us armchair chasers are a bit blind right now.

Sadly there have been two storm-related deaths confirmed in Breaux Bridge, LA. A tornado flipped a mobile home killing a young lady and her three-year-old daughter.

There was mention earlier of potentially large hail in any storms behind the main line; this has happened SW of Houston with an isolated storm that's been steadily marching NE. Got some windshields smashed and the like.
