Looks like we might have us a little day-before-the-day action here
Finally warned. Should have been warned 15 mins ago.Wowsers SE of Laurel. Strong couplet moving NE.
Tornado warning extended into Alabama for the Mississippi tornado warning.
They have got to get a new radar near Meridian. There used to be one but it got wiped out by a tornado decades ago.Why is it the storms of interest are almost always either right on top of a radar site (earlier Mobile one) or as far as possible from all of them - this one being nearly in the middle of a square between KDGX, KMOB, KBMX and KGWX?
so radars being tornado magnets isn't a recent phenomenon? They have got to get a new radar near Meridian. There used to be one but it got wiped out by a tornado decades ago.
I mean, it does feel like there's an open contract to take out KGWX with the number of tornadoes that skirt by that site.so radars being tornado magnets isn't a recent phenomenon?
Which is sad bc people never take it seriously until it happens to them. We see this time and time again, especially in Dixie where you would THINK people know better.Growing more concerned not only about the parameters, but from the public's reaction. Just from what I've seen - at least in north Alabama - people seem to either not care or just flat out ignoring tomorrow's threat. I don't want to start a panic, but I'm starting to use stronger wording in my posts on FB. It's been a long time since we've had a tornado threat, and I'm worried about fatalities due to complacency.
Yup 3 confirmed tornadoes now at least.New warning near Perkinston, MS with a fairly tight couplet. I'd say today's "marginal" risk is definitely overperforming a bit.
Exactly…I notice this happens fairly often with winter setups. I'm not sure why, I guess because people just don't think about tornadoes in December, which is unwise if you live in the South.
100%!!!!!!!!I've learned, especially listening to Spann, that our tornado season down here is basically October thru the end of May.
