There’s been a big increase in GFS ensembles showing a significant severe event long range. A look at the EURO control also shows significant severe.

Jackson gets warning happy. Many times there are warned storms that move into BMX’s CWA and they don’t continue those. JAN has one of the highest FARs and BMX one of the lowest.

Every year we have had a dry, warm and quiet December here in South Central Texas, it has been a stormy spring in the midwest, mid-south, and sometimes even here. On average we have a good deal of rain in December. If we start getting those Pacific storms across Mexico in the spring, watch out.

Tomorrow‘s slight risk looks problematic especially with storms riding the warm front from Louisiana into Alabama.

Interesting high wind issue in Washington State - Tumbleweeds buried cars and trucks on a highway and the state DOT had to use snow plows to remove them... Link to video/story from NYTimes

Awesome! Dodging 30 ft high tumbleweeds would be an other-worldly experience! And dealing with 10 or 20 of them bouncing around in your line of vision would be like something out of a video game. This is something none of us even have a mental frame of reference to process. It would be totally mind-blowing and beyond our realm of experience. Maybe like crashing the bear-cage of an F1 tornado or something.

GFS is always too fast and has a SE bias. Majority of guidance is hitting Saturday as the day. Euro is volatile from Saturday through the end of the run and beyond.

Yeah, I'd expect this to be a Saturday event around here. The GFS has been tail following the EURO in the extended.
