Probably cause they get there once it's weakened after land interaction.

Its all or nothing now. After the first try then they won't make it in time for landfall. Unless im wrong and landfall is imminent.

although the part of the island where it's supposed to make landfall is less populated than the area around Kingston, it's probably the most vulnerable to hurricane impacts overall

This thing legit could have one of, if not the strongest, low pressure of any atlantic storm. I wouldn't doubt we see a pass with ~885 and 190 Winds on the 2nd pass. This is a truly historic hurricane.
