If you want to see the exact path of the Dayton tornado, I was reminded elsewhere that Google Maps traffic density view is an excellent tool for that... the swath of total traffic standstill correlates perfectly with the tornado track.

It's going to pass pretty close to Adelphi and Laurelville too.
This is definitely the nastiest outbreak out of this event we've seen yet. I'm pretty worried about what sort of damage we'll be looking at when the sun rises.

No doubt this overshadows Jefferson City given population density and much longer/larger track, I highly doubt we get out of this one without fatalities. Debris height ~21kft according to those more experienced than me.

For those interested here is the local fire and EMS feed for Dayton. They're getting into the severe damage now.

Recalculated for more accurate storm motion, the 0320UTC VWP for Dayton is just the stuff of nightmares and it's hardly shocking that storm went bonkers... >650 0-1km and nearly 950 0-3km SRH. Looks like it rode the warm front perfectly to maximize intense tornado potential.

So far I have not heard of any fatalities out of Dayton. We will see if that holds.

Will be a miracle if we avoid fatalities. Damage pictures I've seen so far seem to indicate a tornado that produced *at least* EF3 damage. As always, construction quality and the structures actually impacted will be a major determining factor, but I feel pretty comfortable saying I've seen damage that is at least EF3.
So far I haven't seen any pictures showing blocks and blocks of homes wiped down to the foundation, but damage photos and videos from the hardest hit areas usually come in later due to inaccessibility and prioritization of search and rescue. Aerial/drone video this morning should give a better perspective of the overall impact - - no doubt it will be disturbing.

Reminds me of the 2017 New Orleans tornado. Moved through a very densely populated area. Rated high end EF-3. Most of the homes were single family slab homes. We somehow avoided fatalities. Lots of injuries but that was a miracle too.

The tornado that hit the St. Louis airport in April 2011 was rated EF4 without causing fatalities, so I'm curious to see if in that massive damage swath they find any high end DIs.

Moderate out for today; tor, wind, and hail probs are all at MDT level around the Kansas City area
