Severe WX May 2019 Plains Severe Event

Wow. This is not good.

A closer video of the tornado, seen by power flashes.

Thankfully these storms are starting to move out of the most favorable environment. The shear and instability drop off pretty quickly to the east of there. But they had about 1500 CAPE and 400+ ESRH to work with over Dayton

Certainly not the most important thing right now, but the evolution of this event has been fascinating. The whole MCC has been spinning like a top with individual supercells all kinda doing their own things. Kind of amazing it didn't really run into outflow problems.

It really is a weird setup; a steady state MCS with embedded supercells deep in a rain mass. Guess it makes sense the storms on the south edge with uninterrupted inflow would be the ones to go wild.

Yep. There was a very favorable mesoscale environment that just so happened to peak in the areas near/around Dayton. Agree that the best of that environment fades as the storms move to the east. Hopefully that will limit further issues.
