Severe WX May 2019 Plains Severe Event

This stretch starting on the 17th has been basically the opposite of the entirety of last year. Been a long time since we saw such a classic sustained outbreak sequence pattern.

Tornado warning near Redding, CA, and another reported earlier in Minnesota. Lots of states getting in on the action

I know one of the big wedges got preliminarily rated low EF3 despite slabbing a probably poorly constructed house. One or the other also caused ground scarring and very high end vehicle damage but I'm not sure which.

Yeah Tuesday is gonna be another potential high risk day if trends hold. I hope we get lucky again.

There was a random tornado warning in Virginia today. It’s like Oprah is controlling the weather: you get a tornado! And you get a tornado! And you get a tornado!

Was a warning in Ohio crossing into WV earlier too. Pennsylvania is lighting up with isolated cells. May 2019 is a wild one... with flooding sharing the headlines with tornadoes honestly, and that will only get worse before it gets any better

There were three beautiful supercells tracking across West Virginia the other night. Not that I would ever be stupid enough to chase there but they’re better supercells than we usually see here.

And another random warning in Virginia southwest of the DC metro area. Wonder what’s got those spinning. Maybe an outflow boundary or something.

The other thing that this persistent pattern means is that the already saturated areas are just going to keep getting dumped on.

How many nights this month has either OKC or Tulsa metro gotten a destructive nighttime spinup? That's insane. Did not expect to see that tonight but there you have it.
