Severe WX May 2019 Plains Severe Event

Thanks for the confirmation on my 3 posts above yours, Equus.

I was not sure if my info was real-time or not.

There have been so many nighttime spinups there lately there it's hard to tell! But yep another one today

Twitter reports a hotel leveled with victims being pulled from the rubble, buuuut immediate nighttime report. We all know how that goes.

Local stations DO show 2x4s deeply impaled in the ground which is pretty yikes

Damage video from El Reno.

Oh yikes actually first reports are not too far off, there is some severe building damage

Hearing second hand reports via local streams of fatalities at the destroyed hotel. Yikes

Awful. Was just about to post about how it looked like we got through today without any destructive or strong tornadoes. This outbreak sequence has been just relentless, and looks like it may continue until at least the 29th.

A little swath of 350 m2/s2 0-1km SRH along that line... perhaps not as surprising strong spinups are happening but wow what an awful time and place for it to happen.

I was about to ask - what in the world is in the atmosphere this time of night over central OK producing tornadic storms!

The ability for anyone to report damage with the advent of social media is a double edged sword... having to be really careful on the source. I have no doubts that we have casualties (the fatality report was official) but I'm gonna wait til official confirmation for the more extreme reports

EF2 to EF3 QLCS spinups are not uncommon. They happen on a yearly basis. In fact, the EF4 that killed 8 people in Harrisburg, IL back in 2012 was spawned by a long-lived embedded QLCS circulation.

QLCS tornadoes shouldn't ever be taken less seriously than supercell-spawned tornadoes.
