Severe WX May 2019 Plains Severe Event

Only a seasoned chaser would need to chase today, I pray we don’t have an El Reno 2013 set up...and that killed seasoned chasers.
I’m not going to be able to follow much due to family obligations but praying this busts or everyone stays safe!!

I work with a flying squadron. They evacuate our planes for regular severe storms so that’s not uncommon.

This being true I take it the person who made the decision at Tyndall to not evacuate 2 dozen F-22s, which were destroyed by Hurricane Michael, ended up with his/her head on a platter?!

Is anyone else having a hard time viewing the SPC website? Not sure if it's because of the surge of viewers or if they've lost power.
Their whole site seems to be running really slow, more than likely just because of viewer influx. Even the NWS web pages are being iffy for me.

You couldn’t pay me all the money in the world to chase in Oklahoma today. I’m really scared that chasers are going to die.

Yep, no way you could pay me to chase in Oklahoma today. IF i was able to chase out there today, it'd be down towards Abilene/Midland.

What is a good site to monitor storm chaser locations and/or livestreams? I'm definitely sitting this one out, but would like to follow along with those who are out.

The El Reno 2013 event, in terms of risk, is a very fair analog for today. Serious tornado threat + serious flooding threat + a plethora of chasers. More people died from flooding that day than from the El Reno tornado itself, and I hope the High Risk flood probability today/tonight is not lost among folks that could be in the path.

There's Live Storm Chasing, and there's also Severe Studios. And that's just the ones I know offhand. Some chasers are also using Periscope and Twitch (among others, probably) for streaming; however, you'll have to do some digging in order to find them.

In general, flooding kills way more. Larger aerial coverage + less menacing visually than tornadoes, leads to greater fatalities.

As much as I hate to say it, sadly it seems like we may need some chasers today. A lot of the area in western oklahoma is in a large radar hole and we need chasers to verify what's going on at the ground to give proper warnings.

That being said...

This is way too many and is an absolute disaster waiting to happen on Violent, large, HP tornadoes. If you're reading this as a chaser, please consider not chasing today, or at the very least, consider staying north of the red river where bridge crossings could be a major failure point today. A violent tornado hitting a major bridge crossing would undoubtedly be a chaser catastrophe unlike any we've ever seen.

A big question right now is the quality of the warm sector for later this afternoon.

Storms are forecast to develop in the free warm sector of S. OK. in the early afternoon. Will these storms contaminate the warm sector for the main development of severe storms that form off the dryline later this afternoon, and if so, to what degree? Right now, with all the other severe dynamics so strongly in place, this warm sector issue does not appear to be a major issue.
