The bugs have returned here. Yay. I was outside earlier and could hear them. It sure was nice when the hard freeze killed them all.:(

Yeah, it's going to be a bad season for bugs, bees, spiders, etc here in west Georgia as well. Only 2 days in Atlanta all winter below 27 F. Nothing lower than 30 degrees since January 10th. December, January, and February so far have averaged +7 degrees above normal; +8.6 above normal since January began. Only 15 freezes the entire winter.

Atlanta (KATL)
---------------
Dec ....48.9 (+3.6)
Jan ....52.0 (+8.7)
Feb.....54.7 ( +8.4)

We are currently shattering the warmest February on record by a degree and a half and there's no way we'll offset it in the next week with plenty more above normal temperatures. We've had I think 2 or 3 days this month below normal and only one is forecast this weekend.

whoever said this winter would be frontloaded was right... what winter there was here was the weekend before Christmas and the first weekend of 2017... but even those were dominated by extreme warmth in between(warmest Christmas ever)

Tomorrow and Thursday will guarantee most 80s ever in a winter, it's just been a sad couple of years. Lol. At least this year it did snow for an hour.

No snow here......but Atlanta did have a moderate ice storm here in early January. Thankfully it occurring on a weekend prevented traffic gridlock.

With meteorological winter ending today, let's take a look back at temp anomalies for this winter. It was an extremely warm one....with a lot of the country averaging 3-5+ degrees above normal. Really, after the early January snow, it was over. While early March will likely feature temps near normal or even a little below average with a transient block, don't count on it lasting more than a week or two at most...and then back to above normal for second half of March....
