Severe WX December 16-17 2019 Severe Weather Outbreak

My husband was in the Laurel, MS tor...
Here’s what I posted on FB

Nathan’s is okay! The town of Laurel, MS and his hotel and surrounding buildings were hit. His 3 car trailer has flipped and went 60 feet with the 3 cars (damaged)....

Nathan talked to the police and they said that tornado cut straight through Laurel.... there’s worse damage in other parts of town. His car trailer had 3 cars and weighed 20,000lbs. It was 60feet away. His truck lost all the windows except the windshield. The passenger door is dented in.. there’s some sheet metal wrapped around it. A building beside the hotel’s roof was found 2 blocks away
What a relief to hear that he's okay. I hope everyone else in town was just as lucky.

Hearing reports of house damage and injuries in the Demopolis area. Also that couplet is headed straight towards Greensboro as we speak.

@Kory, @Evan. Thoughts as this progresses eastward? Hoping we can 'shoot the gap' here in Bham, but those cells to our SW are looking nasty....

I think the worst of everything will stay plenty south of 20/59. I previously thought there would be a decent threat from QLCS spinups in Birmingham metro, but latest HRRR shows less favorable conditions than a little while ago.

Honestly don't really know. Probably too early to rule Bham area out of any threat. I'd say until the TOR watch is cancelled there's a chance of a few spin-ups. Have seen lines do that when entering the Bham area many times.

If the Demopolis/Greensboro tornadic cell holds together it is on a trajectory to reach the Bham metro area later. I’m guessing it wii begin to ingest more stable air before it reaches Bham.
