That is completely ridiculous. Why??So apparently the BG tornado rating got taken down off the CRH page and revised back to EF3. This dissemination process is an absolute mess.

I hope you address this as a concern since you are going for your PhD in meteorology. So apparently the BG tornado rating got taken down off the CRH page and revised back to EF3. This dissemination process is an absolute mess.

Glad to know me and Shakespeare 2016 aren't the only ones with a s**t list for NWS offices!NWS Louisville has made it very clear on Twitter that they will not be rating the Bowling Green tornado EF4. No explanation, nor any mention of that brick veneer, anchor bolted, slab foundation duplex that was completely obliterated and swept away. They have firmly earned a spot on my WFO s**t list. Good job guys.
I've said the same thing many times about 5/31/85. At least two tornadoes that are, in my opinion, clear-cut F5s - plus a couple others for which at least an argument could be made - yet I have no doubt at all that none would be rated higher than mid-high EF4 were they to happen today. For that matter, of all the historically violent tornadoes I've written about, the only one I'm certain would still get an EF5 today is Bridge Creek. Jarrell, Joplin and Flint-Beecher might, but it'd probably depend on who was rating them. Not sure I'd put money on it.I'm not sure a single tornado from the Super Outbreak would receive an EF5 rating today.
I may put NWS in Paducah on mine as well.NWS Louisville has made it very clear on Twitter that they will not be rating the Bowling Green tornado EF4. I get the impression they were strong-armed into making a bad call by outside influences. Could be wrong though.I may put NWS in Paducah on mine as well.
That brick duplex. Completely inexcusable. They’re defending their stance on Twitter with “because we said so” being the gist of their argument.BG's rating was some of the most ridiculous I have seen yet. Even more ridiculous than the EF4 rating of Mayfield.
Why was that house given only an EF-2 rating? That sounds like some real BS.That brick duplex. Completely inexcusable. They’re defending their stance on Twitter with “because we said so” being the gist of their argument.
Did they seriously?? Ok, that simply should not be allowed. They WENT BELOW THE LOWER BOUND OF THE DI! They are literally breaking the set of guidelines set in place by the scale. Reform is desperately, desperately needed. I’m honestly fuming right now…Why was that house given only an EF-2 rating? That sounds like some real BS.
In all fairness, that's not exactly new either (looking at New Wren, Salyersville, Coleridge, Cisco and others). The EF scale is most definitely broken, or at least not being used properly. The stigma against rating something even EF4 I will never understand, no need to make it that complicated
