COVID-19 detected in United States

Investors thought otherwise...
It's amazing what just talking about having a plan for actions to take on Covid-19 could have on the confidence of investors. Just think what might have happened if the POTUS had taken this seriously about 3 or 4 wks ago and been proactive instead of writing it off as a hoax manufactured by the media/Dems/Deep State to sabotage his reelections chances. The 25% drop in the market may have never happened.

Appears some additional updates to policies are underway. UK and Ireland are expected to be added to the Europe travel ban today. Also President Trump has told reporters he took a COVID-19 test last night. Results are pending.

I think that’s a smart move. Hopefully in July we will be saying that everybody overreacted because this turned out to not be a big deal.
From a public health perspective, I understand it. However, if it lasts for an extended period of time, the economic impact could be devastating.

Yes. It’s a lose-lose situation. The economic impact of overwhelmed hospitals and a large portion of the population being sick for two weeks is also bad.

If people are saying we overreacted then it is likely we reacted as we should. That's the whole point, which I know you understand. Not being snarky just getting it out there because we know there will be plenty who say just that.

The paradox there is did it turn out to not be that big of a deal because of the actions taken, or truly not as big of a deal as it was made to be?

There’s no winning from a policy perspective. If you wait too long and a bunch of people die because of inaction, it’s the government’s fault for failing to act. If you get out ahead of it and are able to control it/minimize damage, well the government went too far for nothing.

I wonder what the odds are of a complete nationwide shutdown?

Trump's presser today was much better. Not at all perfect but an improvement worth lauding.
