So uh, Alex Sizemore from NWS Birmingham was out surveying the Rolling Fork tornado. He confirms via eyewitness account that the lights orbiting the tornado shown in the videos from Adam Lucio, Max Olson, and co. are indeed vehicles.

Damn. Is there a linkable source for this?

Been waiting on this one for a while; this is the one frame TDS and marginal velocity sig that came from the monster MS cell's embedded comma head stage in NE Marion, BMX notes timber damage could push it to EF2. Absolutely instant significant tornadoes from even marginal signatures; very scary night. Believe this happened right after the tornado warning for Marion expired too

BMX is an absolute top notch tree damage survey WFO (despite their love of 110mph EF1 lol) so very interested in seeing the end result there

Right now, Rolling Fork/ Silver City is EF-4 with winds of 170mph.

Jackson notes additional information is now being assessed, including aerial imagery from satellite and UAS. Locations with the most severe damage along the paths are NOW BEING REVIEWED. FOLLOW UP SURVEYS ARE POSSIBLE, AND updates to survey results ARE ALSO POSSIBLE IN THE COMING DAYS.

I’ve lurked around here for quite a while, but figured I should finally “join”.

I was in Rolling Fork after the storm Saturday morning running a saw to help clear roads, and also followed the path on hwy 14, and up 149, into Silver City.

I’ve lived through a couple of tornadoes. Namely the ‘92 F4 in Brandon. I remember it shaking the house, shattering windows, and the sounds of debris and trees crushing things. There is still debris buried into a couple of the surviving trees at my parents house (where I was at the time).
Also the 2014 F2/3 in Brandon. Trees crushed the house next door. That’s a sound I won’t forget. I’ve also seen the aftermath of a couple of other tornadoes first hand.

But some of the things I saw Saturday in Rolling Fork were new to me. The vehicle damage stood out. Twisted, mangled, and ripped apart. The way some of the large oak trees were torn and shredded I’m not sure I’ve seen before either. Buildings not just blown apart, but parts of them twisted up into unrecognizable balls of scrap.

I also saw debris along hwy 14 seemingly miles outside of the path.

In my very limited and non-expert opinion, it showed signs of being a radically violent beast. If it’s not an EF4, I’m not sure I understand what is.
