Winter Weather/Extreme Cold Threat 1/13-1/17

What's y'alls thoughts about southern North MS counties? Particularly Monroe
Yeah, I don't see you going back above freezing at the surface. I expect you're in it.

3in on the ground in Arlington, TN already - just NE of Memphis.

From Jackson. Probably no ground truth, but at least things are getting moist. Hate that word....
Likely not, but cooling the column. Good for the long term trend.

10PM. Banding all the way back to north TX. 32 surface temp line has slowed - Cullman and Jasper are now below freezing and Hayden is at 34. Wintry mix reported as far south as Hanceville, AL. AR, NW MS, TN, and far NW AL getting buried. I think amounts in a lot of places are going to overperform if it keeps this up.

I hope so! Me and my mom are hoping to wake up in the morning to see snow

I hope you do! The cold air is certainly in place for you, you'll just need the moisture to band over you. That heaviest band is going to stay in the same place for a long time, and then sink southeast eventually.

If only *cough* the Mystery Sledder of Birmingham could have a little more cold, he could, in theory, be ready to go again….
LOL I needed that.

It's not often you have to add in Lake Charles radar to see the full picture in a winter weather event. I'm showing it in clear air mode, so it's not likely it's hitting the ground down to the GOM, but you can certainly see it.

Another thing really sticking out to me late night is the temp map. Check how far south the surface temps in the 30s go.
