Winter Threat January 18-24 do ya wanna build a snowman??

Do you think the models (HRRR, NAM) are adequately factoring in snow cover for the lows tonight in FL/AL/GA? They seem too high to me. By a lot.
Goofus got ya covered on that one.

So I have a rather large unofficial sample size of friends on social media who are mostly in the SE AL area but some also in FL Panhandle, and they are very consistently showing measurements of 6-9 inches of snow across the area. That is amazing and smashes most records that have stood. It'll be interesting to see the official measurements.

To put this into some amazing perspective, in some of the areas affected by this storm, you can take and COMBINE all previous measurable snowfall events from the last 100 years and they STILL wouldn't add up to some of the numbers we're seeing come out from this. Insane.

Good morning. It is currently 7 degrees here on the hill. That is why I am SO thankful we did not see the snow because it would have been so much colder. And I would have been finding a hotel because our heat pump already can't keep up. Can we fast forward to spring now? (NOT SUMMER!) Even 50s would be lovely!
I second that thought myself …. This pattern here can take a hike now …I am starting get my mind on some other type weather . And most people on here know what I am referring to lol

I'm happy that people in South Alabama got a real snowstorm! But I can't deny that I am very envious. I'm hoping that we get some snow in the West and central area of Alabama at some point this winter now that North and South Alabama got snow. This was my big event yesterday...

Woke up to 5° this morning and what will probably be Atmospheric Anti-Climax pipes in the yard; looking forward to being above freezing for the first time in very literally 72 hours soon. Saw some 1-3° readings across Louisiana, breaking all time lows in many spots. I am so done with winter already lol

Yeah had we seen snow we could've had </=0 temps in Cen AL. Bham apparently dropped to 9, lower than forecast to begin with.

Mobile only dropped to 12 on the hours but dropped to 6 705-20, their coldest temp since Jan 85 & 3rd coldest ever. The airport on the bay dropped to 9.

Some good news - things are heating up nicely and the roads and sidewalks and such in S AL are going to melt off pretty quickly looks like. This from Lillian, AL. Expect they'll have refreeze issues tonight, but maybe by tomorrow afternoon things will get passable again.

(and no, I'm not sure the skeleton enjoyed the snow.)

I sure hope no one was in a speedo on the beach yesterday, but yet I'm sure someone was. LOL!
