Severe WX Severe Weather Threat Jan 12th, 2023

East Georgia cell is almost certainly down. Surprised to see no extension of the warning yet
I'll eat my words gladly if this is incorrect but there seems to have been an unwarned siggy tor ongoing with this cell for the last 10-15 minutes. If so, absolute catastrophic failure to not warn it.

Short-lived tornado on that cell in NE AL, apparently.

Storm near Ashville also showing some signs of rotation.

What a crazy over performer of a day!

I’m looking through aerials of Selma right now and it isn’t as catastrophic as I was expecting. Widespread, major damage for sure, but part of me though we’d see Mayfield tier damage there. Hopefully there was nothing like that today.

Some of the damage in Selma is misleading, different building codes than most current day stuff I think. More sturdier than modern stuff especially if brick, correct me if I'm wrong anybody I'm not 100% sure.

looking at this from columbia, sc (KCAE) and i, too, have a hard time believing nothing is on the ground ... the signature is a bit too deep to be nothing from that far out

Nah. If it was Europe you’d be correct, but a lot of old masonry structures in the southern US tend to be weaker, not stronger. It’s not like European masonry construction. Plus most of the damage I’m seeing is to wood frame homes.

Still, major damage no doubt.

Looks like Lithia Springs may have been hit. Damage to a business there per Fox 5.
Yeah it looks pretty rough. Could've been tornadic.

Major damage to a Hobby Lobby in Griffin, GA. Would attach picture but it won't let me atm.
