Severe WX Severe Weather Threat 3/14-3/16

It’s totally understandable to think this. This is something I’m all too familiar with here in Ohio - just last year we had a big moderate risk over the whole state and it ended up not panning out to be what was forecasted. All the people I told about nasty weather came up to me and said many things, including things similar to “meteorologists are paid to be wrong” and stupid stuff like that. There isn’t a whole lot we can do about it because the weather will do what it wants to regardless of what we think. At the end of the day, we can warn and warn people about the potential of a violent outbreak, and ultimately it comes down to the individual on whether or not they want to listen or heed warnings.

It helps to remember that large numbers of our fellow Americans are quite stupid when it comes to anything outside of their interest areas or daily patterns. Not a uniquely American phenomenon, but as with many things we are upper tier when it comes to our inability to see beyond our own isolated self-interest.

Same… also to the mods:

If we could SERIOUSLY add an “eye roll” reaction that would be greatly appreciated. We could use that instead of replying to certain…. “noisy” comments that we have seen :) There’s been a lot and they make it difficult to read (find?) the MOST IMPORTANT info. It can be our way of telling someone we don’t like what the person said without creating extra posts. Imagine saying something and you see 20 people “roll their eyes” at you hahahahahhahaahaha

We don’t need to see the same TORE, WW, MD posted 20 times when they are issued lol

Eye roll reaction! PLEASE! Lol

@WesL @MichelleH @JayF (and whoever else I forgot to tag lol)
I think an Eye Roll Reaction would be fantastic. By the way here is a noisy comment:

Crazy tornado video from Tylertown, MS. A family recorded the tornado striking their house.

I really wish people would not record themselves like this…Some people are not going to learn until they are affected by the consequences of their actions.

This video reminds me of that woman in Little Rock who did the same thing. She said “oh I’m gettin’ this”.

She “got it” alright. Sucked right out of the building she was standing in as she was recording. The man she was with was holding the door closed, so I guess that “helped” too.

PLEASE do not do what these people do just to go “viral”. Your first viral moment could end up being your last :( :(

A lot of that had to do with the jet max being slower than what was modeled. It was back in Texas this morning instead of punching directly into the warm sector at peak start. A lot of the upper level modeling just didn’t pan out

Yep. That was always a major part of things. It had a lot of space to cover in a relatively short period of time but the models kept saying it would happen. A lot depended on the timing of the jet max arriving at a nearly ideal time.
