Watch for those showers near Montgomery City and Bowling Green in Missouri to track North east into the risk area for today.
They went right up in a little area of 500-1000 k/j SBCAPE.

It just seemed to come out of nowhere. I was watching this site and it seemed this new severe weather risk just appeared one day.

? Northern Illinois has plenty of history with tornadoes, including the Plainfield F5. Not "far north" at all.

With 1,796 confirmed tornadoes, 2024 holds the spot for 2nd highest number in a single year within the United States. The year 2004 is #1 with 1,817 confirmed tornadoes. For reference, 2011 had 1,713 confirmed tornadoes.

I am curiuous to see where yall think 2025 might end up?

And we already have a highly populated area under a warning, only radar indicated at the moment though. Hopefully nothing strong touches down.

Is the Milwaukee radar on Radarscope not working for anyone else? Others in the area are loading appropriately, but KMKX is showing from over a day ago. Don't think it should be an issue for folks tracking the severe weather, but it's annoying for me personally.
