Yeah I have strong suspicion this ends up at EF4 given some of the video coming out showing extreme motion close to ground level and damage. Trees debarked or thrown, ground scouring, vehicles being tossed considerable distances, structures swept away albeit probably of lesser construction.

These videos are spectacular, incredible motion. It's only a matter of time before one of these chasers gets a close clean shot with a high speed phantom camera - 30,000 frame per second funnel cloud. Imagine how accurately someone could extrapolate wind velocity with that data!

Does anybody have radar imagery of this Tornado?

Looks like it was in an awful radar hole; would have a very high beam height I can imagine

Already been said, but this was pretty much Katie-Wynnewood part 2. Clearly deserving of an EF4 rating, but we’ll see if they actually rate it as such.

Also, I have a real fascination with significant “off-season” summertime tornadoes and tornado outbreaks. They seem to happen unexpectedly and are almost always confined to the Northern Plains, Great Lakes, and New England. This one will go down as one of the more memorable mid-summer events in my book, up there with August 24, 2016, July 19-20 2018, August 7, 2010, and September 16, 2010.

So here's the ground damage... wow

Event view up on NWS site. Radar included; presentation is really not representative of the tornado intensity due to distance from site

Given the lack of debris, might have some debris granulation in the core there... multiple violent hallmarks scattered in there

I don’t want to be a wet blanket here, but notice that the worst scouring is over farm fields. Farm fields already have loose/exposed soil present, so they scour easier. Not much in the above video or pics in terms of actual grass scouring. Not to say this wasn’t a violent tornado, because it was.

What about the 1 yard scouring of the ground.

I have to wonder if it was recently plowed, even; no doubt it's impressive but yeah that's not the most packed and difficult to move soil around

In other news, the GoFundMe for the couple whose house was swept away (the EF4 house with the car in the basement) has been fully funded already. Relatively minor injuries there, surviving in that now exposed basement. Fatality was in a machine shed a mile or so away, and another person survived by hiding under a tractor. Definitely brings perspective to learn of the human element in a weather story

Somebody survived by hiding underneath a tractor. That is really crazy.
