Severe Threat - Feb 27-28th, 2024

I'm just north of Chicago and temps are 72/53.

Doesn't feel humid enough for anything significant, but I'll have to keep an eye out for changes.
Champaign at 19z was 70/61 (although with a pretty stout cap still in place) so I wouldn’t get too comfortable just yet.

My main concern with this setup now is that LL shear (quite paltry on the sounding above) won't really increase until well after dark when instability starts to wane. I'd wager that 10% hatched is on the conditional chance that a cell finds the overlap around 02Z or so.
Yeah it’s not a big window spatially or temporally but all it takes is one.

Storms are moving pretty slow, only around 25 MPH.

Meanwhile on the back side of this system…

Our daughter lives in Shattuck, Ok. I've been on the phone with her trying to direct her family out of the area to safety. They've evacuated her town. The smoke was pretty thick but they're heading in a good direction now. It is a scary situation for sure.

Timmer is in the area of the TOR warning. Hopefully his moderator will shut up for a couple minutes and let Reed stream the storm. I can't emphasize enough how unwatchable that guy has made Reed's stream

This, I can't stress that enough. His stuff is unwatchable because of him.
