Is the Bham area still under the gun ? Have been in muny court with my daughter(1st ticket).

Hasn't even started yet. This stuff up in north AL isn't really related to what's coming this afternoon.

Just talked to my buddy in Hanceville...they've got lots of property damage but they are ok...apparently the initial touchdown was in his pasture...yikes..

Spann was right, small cell NW of Eutaw just got red core on it over the course of 3 or so frames.

Update, we decided the Middle Tennessee option is just too junky. Now heading down through Greenville/Atlanta to the Georgia/Alabama border to eventually get as West as possible and hit this crazy stuff that will start developing soon. Currently about to pass through Greenville.

How many times has the siren gone off in Madison County since 11am?

Brad Travis said the current convection will not weaken the storms coming in from the west later this afternoon.

you better haul it. atlanta traffic is going to be snarled up real bad probably. avoid it at all costs after 230 or 3pm.

if you can miss atlanta traffic, you should still be able to intercept something in central alabama.

Down Eastern Valley road, from McAshan to Kimbrell Cutoff - trees down everywhere, power lines crossing the road at several points. Given that the damage just starts and stops it's hard to believe it was just straight-line winds, but the survey will tell for certain I guess.

The Superecell of the day is in Tallahatchie Co., MS...very dangerous developing tornadic HP moving towards NW alabama eventually over the next 2 hours...

Thats the hard part about chasing on a day like this as previous storms have caused trees and power lines to block roads and you could get caught in one of these storms with no way out.

If you want to check traffic conditions around Atlanta, try this link: http://www.511ga.org/realtimetraffic.html?lat=33.778&lon=-84.37&zoom=11
It's not perfect, but it's better than nothing or relying on radio reports only.

we'll see. im just 3 or 4 miles east/northeast of there and i was without power for 6 hours and estimate winds of over 70mph. same story off to my east across vestavia/inverness/hwy280 and then further on in moody and pell city.

but i agree, i suspect there may have been 1 or more F0-F1 tornadoes.

Don't have to tell me! :) I'm from Atlanta... will have to decide if going through downtown or hitting 285 will be the better option when we get closer.

Pardon a dumb question. But what map or graph or stats do I look at to monitor the "cap eroding"? I know the basics of what a cap does. But I actually have the time to see it as it erodes within the next hour, according to spann.

Thanks!
