Hearin extensive damage in Chattanooga... Entrapments, tons of powerlines and trees down, possible injuries, roads completely blocked and emergency personnel having to enter subdivisions on foot to check residents. There were funnel clouds reported and possible tornado touchdowns reported. Here on the East side of Cleveland a little rain and a little wind and really not much lighting or thunder at all.

We didn't even get any rain here. Clouds already trying to break up some.

Same here storms died before they reached Fulton.

FROM SPC DAY 1 DISCUSSION

THE VERTICAL SHEAR ENVIRONMENT WILL BECOME VERY FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADIC SUPERCELLS...CHARACTERIZED BY LONG/CURVED HODOGRAPHS WITH
EFFECTIVE BULK SHEAR IN EXCESS OF 70 KT AND EFFECTIVE SRH OF 300-600
M2/S2 IN THE UNSTABLE WARM SECTOR. GIVEN THE EXPECTATION OF SEVERAL
HOURS OF DISCRETE SUPERCELL DEVELOPMENT IN THE WAKE OF THE MORNING
STORMS
...A VERY MOIST BOUNDARY LAYER...THE STRONG INSTABILITY...AND
INTENSE VERTICAL SHEAR...THE SCENARIO APPEARS FAVORABLE FOR MULTIPLE
LONG-TRACK SUPERCELLS WITH THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE INTENSE/DAMAGING
TORNADOES IN THE HIGH RISK AREA.

The injury in Lauderdale County last night was an EMA employee. Thats the area that forum member Drew Richards usually spots in. I don't know if it was him or not, but lets all hope he is ok.

Per Brad Travis, that bad line of storms in N MS will roll through Florence in about 1 hr

I'm worried that the storms this morning will give people a sense of complacency. Fortunately WSB seems to be appropriately "hyping" this situation so hopefully people will know that the main event is yet to come.

Looks like the line moving through N MS is going to hold together as it moves into N AL. Any thoughts on whether it could stabilize things in N AL?

How is that cell approaching Madison?

Supercellular. Possibly tornadic. Warned as such. Not a threat to Madison, though. This information is readily available, too.

How bad are these storms in NE MS? Any data on them. The Huntsville mets are focused on the cell near madison
