Is the line going to fall apart before it gets to me?

I live not too far away from Arab. Hearing lots of damage there all the way into Jackson County. Thousands of trees probably down over the area back into Walker Co. Sun is out now, temp has recovered two degrees in 15 minutes...gonna be a long, memorable day for this state.

Just got to a computer to be able to post this. Exit 97 off I59/20 has been hit hard. There is a tractor trailer that was converted to a fireworks stand that is laying on it's side and leaning on a power pole next to the shell station. All up and down eastern valley road between Woodstock and McAdory numerous trees and power lines are down. Massive trees down all over tannehill valley. There is a suspect area off of I59/20 Northbound just south of Exit 100 that a very large area of trees were twisted off. This is in line with the radar signature shown this morning, and seems to line up well with the other damage that is indicative of a small tornado. We will have to wait on the NWS survey, but I am confident that a tornado did touch down just east of Vance and stayed on the ground to around I459. All of the signs at the surrounding service stations are heavily damaged, and a few billboards around the RV center about 1/4 mile south of Petro at exit 100 have been completely destroyed. The eastern valley road corridor is completely blocked off. Every exit route is blocked by trees and power lines, and there are cars with people trapped inside due to trees and power lines down on their cars. This was a nasty line, with what I'm sure will be determined later, a few small tornadoes. Did anyone else have a problem with their NOAA weather radio not going off when the tornado warning was issued for Tuscaloosa county?

Yes. Mine did not go off and I did not hear sirens. My husband called me from work to let me know.

Looks like they may have expanded the high risk area a bit.

New tornado watch issued for N MS and NW AL until 2 pm. Interesting that it's not a PDS watch, and was issued without a prior MD.

Sun shining bright in Tuscaloosa. Now we can see the damage.

It's going to be a long day.

Hey neighbor! I'm about a mile and a half from tannehill, and it looks like a bomb went off here. Had to go all the way back to exit 97 just to get to the interstate to go to work. Glad all is well in that area though!

Wow! I'm glad people seem to be ok even if some trees didn't fare well. I spend a lot of time between here and Tannehill. I set up at Trade Days there (hope the park didn't suffer much damage) and used to live about 2 miles on the other side of Tannehill so all of these damage reports are indeed troublesome to me. This system kinda reminds me of the "Good Friday" storm that hit the over the mountain area years ago. That was a mess. My family was located on a hill and didn't get hit but right off that hill, there was devastation all around in the valley area. Wondering how the two compare since this is in the early stages of damage assesment.

This watch is from the cells in northern MS...they aren't taking into account the threat for later on after 2 pm.

Once we see some discrete cells start popping early afternoon...this watch should get replaced with a PDS one that will be larger too.

Fairly significant sounding from JAN this am.

Just need to add some CAPE to get the party started.

The line really falling apart now. Sun trying to come out here.
Hodograph for my area this evening is showing long and curved before getting funky lookin. Similar to Huntsville's this afternoon only we have a tad *less more turning with height imo. Just some basic observations off the latest GFS (and most from yesterday). Folks in Northern Georgia need to really keep an eye out this evening.

Will the storms about to enter the Shoals stabilize things to the pt that this afternoon wont be as big a problem here?

The insane ehi and sig tor parameters basically tell me that any storm that forms in ms and al will all be rotating and dropping tornadoes.

The way the atmosphere is set up it would take a lot of rain to stablilze the atmosphere. During big tornado outbreaks a location could get hit with more than one Tornado.Did the first storm stop the second Tornado? no.So just have to see how the mesoscale features pan out.

Lot of clouds still to come over north alabama, might not see sun till 11-12am

Sun is coming out in Huntsville. My in-laws drove through Arab and Guntersville and said that there is a lot of damage, Hwy 69 through there looks like a "war zone" and she said smells like Christmas because of all of the trees down. Discount Building Supply on 69 is very damaged, roof gone from the Shell station there, and the Piggly Wiggly was hit according to the police who turned them around. The causeway on 69 is closed. They were trying to get to my house and see if it was damaged, but couldn't. Again, this is what I was told by her, so it is second hand and I haven't seen it myself, but she said it was really bad.

Are you kidding me? This satellite image as well as radar trends are pretty evident that the clouds are and will be breaking up shortly. Northern Alabama is going to see sun MUCH sooner than 11-12 AM and probably already are in some places. You do realize the clouds moving into the area will also begin to fall apart because of capping right?

Cin increasing over N Georgia E and N AL. Clouds should be beginning to break soon across N GA, and N AL. Just going to add fuel to an already dangerous fire.

To those along with I who are in east AL, west GA. There is no wedge this time around to save us nor will the night bring relief. Please be careful today. It's been a while since AL has seen one of these.

We didn't even get any rain here. Clouds already trying to break up some.
