Just got to a computer to be able to post this. Exit 97 off I59/20 has been hit hard. There is a tractor trailer that was converted to a fireworks stand that is laying on it's side and leaning on a power pole next to the shell station. All up and down eastern valley road between Woodstock and McAdory numerous trees and power lines are down. Massive trees down all over tannehill valley. There is a suspect area off of I59/20 Northbound just south of Exit 100 that a very large area of trees were twisted off. This is in line with the radar signature shown this morning, and seems to line up well with the other damage that is indicative of a small tornado. We will have to wait on the NWS survey, but I am confident that a tornado did touch down just east of Vance and stayed on the ground to around I459. All of the signs at the surrounding service stations are heavily damaged, and a few billboards around the RV center about 1/4 mile south of Petro at exit 100 have been completely destroyed. The eastern valley road corridor is completely blocked off. Every exit route is blocked by trees and power lines, and there are cars with people trapped inside due to trees and power lines down on their cars. This was a nasty line, with what I'm sure will be determined later, a few small tornadoes. Did anyone else have a problem with their NOAA weather radio not going off when the tornado warning was issued for Tuscaloosa county?

Am I a terrible person for wishing these storms wreck the Huntsville metro area, causing UAH to delay their finals schedule until next week?

That is not a good thing to wish for anyone...

My sister is at UA and said that the sirens didn't go off.

On another note, my neighbor is a reporter for WHNT 19 and said he can't get out of the driveway of our apartment. Not sure if the building is damaged or not. He's careful not to show where we live when he reports from there (he did reports from our driveway during one of the snow storms), so I couldn't tell. But the road is blocked by trees. Guess I made the right call when I left to come to a friend's house since my apartment is on the second floor.

Just got a report from a friend that Cordova in Walker County has a good bit of damage. He said (take this with a grain of salt) that cars and tractor trailers were flipped, and there was a good bid of structural damage. He is supposed to be sending me pictures when he gets better cell signal. I know the SRV looked pretty mean over that area as the line came through this morning, so I'm not entirely surprised to hear of some damage there.

Large tree down 280 outbound at summit. All lanes blocked. Mutiple trees down in cahaba heights
_ could have been a small tornado the way they are snapped.

The cap is beginning to strengthen over central and north Alabama while the sun breaks out. Tds near 70 are in the montgomery area moving northward. The stage is being set.

Hey all! I was awoken by the sirens this morning and I was thinking it was a false alarm because when I went to sleep late last night, I thought we were alright until later today...wrong! Anyway I live right off Exit 1 on 459 and Eastern Valley Rd in McCalla. We got slammed right after I awoke to the sirens. Our power didn't stand a chance (I'm posting from my Blackberry now). Fortunately our neighborhood doesn't have many trees but that was a loud storm. I heard a rumble for a while too which may have been more than thunder but who knows for now. Don't see much damage in my yard so I suppose we're fortunate here. The sun just popped out too so that isn't a good sign for later. Anyway, those damage reports from the neighboring exits hit close to home. Hope everyone fares alright today! Be safe my friends!

Every local tv station in Chattanooga just went dead on-air. A couple have come back up but the majority is gone. This is creepy. I knew I should have kept my daughter home.

Hey neighbor! I'm about a mile and a half from tannehill, and it looks like a bomb went off here. Had to go all the way back to exit 97 just to get to the interstate to go to work. Glad all is well in that area though!
