Today would be the time for Christians to pray for God to calm these storms like Jesus calmed the stormy seas.

I have been driving around florence, the power is out everywhere, I have seen 2 streets blocked by trees, there is a tree down on circular drive next to UNA with power lines down. Numerous other random branches in the streets and in yards. from what i can see looks like UNA/Downtown area got the hardest hit.. as far as i can see.

To your average person looking, the cold front comes though after sunset here in Alabama later today (Wed. 7PM to 11PM). This is nothing compared to the tornadoes and severe problems that will come this afternoon in Alabama.

Band of storms just passed my area (Fosters/Coker) west of Tuscaloosa. That was some vicious wind. Some trees down but so far, doing ok. I didn't get to go to my crossfit class, but I think I'll get over that

And this is just the beginning. People are so misinformed thinking that we only get ONE "round" of storms and that's it whenever there are days of warnings from mets. "That was it, right?? It just came a little earlier". NO people. READ the warnings and discussions. We are in for a long day and night.

Supercells are not like long squall lines. They just pop up and move around then die off in stable air. They can pop up in your county. I just watched a rotation show up on 3 turns of the radar beam in Bear Creek and it's moving fast now. Less than a minute and it was on radar. You won't necessarily see them all the way in Texas and move close for a day or two. Some are long lasting and yes they will have plenty of lead time.

They are called supercell..not "big ol cells with neon lights and big sign saying "here I come in 2 days" and a personal phone call to you" cells.

Stay safe and get some batteries in the weather radio...note to self....charge the batteries in the weather radio

Ok...big cloud shield currently over Miss/AL...and Squall line with rain shield behind it in Al...pretty healthy line at that...expected to see a line this morning....just not that strong still....behind this more supercells....anyone think this all could work to lessen the threat today?

We had a siren malfunction in T-town. The steel mill didn't hear it and only because someone was watching the ustream abc3340 did they know to take cover. I'm not sure if Northport heard theirs.

I wouldn't think so. Spann and NWS mets saying the parameters are too strong. He just said the round of storms coming this afternoon will be more dangerous and potentially more severe with tornadoes.

The "high" risk from SPC speaks for itself. If they thought any of these first bands of storms would have a chance of stabilizing what's coming, they would not have issued it. They are very conservative with a "high". For good reasons.

From what I can understand, there is a huge bonfire about to be lit. This band is a Dixie cup of water.

From BMX...this is why I am hopeful.

BIG QUESTION IS...HOW DOES THIS ACTIVITY IMPACT THE POTENTIAL FOR
WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER AND TORNADOES THIS AFTERNOON? UNTIL WE SEE
HOW THE CURRENT CONVECTION PROGRESSES ACROSS THE AREA AND WHAT
SORT OF AIRMASS IT LEAVES BEHIND...ITS A FORECAST WAITING GAME.

HRRR gives plenty of time to re-destabilize and breaks out numerous supercells over North and Central AL by late afternoon.

Good morning everyone. Looks like I'm in that hatched area for tornadoes. Not good. And speaking of not good I have three finals this morning/afternoon. So Godspeed to us all today.

Line starting to shatter and rain shield shrinking. No doubt this MCS will leave all kinds of mesoscale boundaries behind.

a LOT of damage and some injuries from the straight line winds in Tuscaloosa/Birmingham area. No tornado, but the winds. Heads up east of 1-65.
