As dry as the eye is, the shots from inside it on the island should be spectacular, assuming there are folks not too traumatized to take pics. Hopefully Josh nailed his positioning.

Sat is just slightly south, this looks like about the best we'll get. I feel certain the NASA folks will have some high-res shots out soon.
However, I would be more excited about his chances and overall shot of a life time if he was in White House instead of Crawford. That’s nice, but I’m hoping for one from land like with Hurricane Michael. I would think Josh Morgerman could get it.
Could it maintain Cat 5 even past Jamaica?I hope otherwise, but I'm not sure we're going to see the level of weakening that we'd like to see as Melissa traverses Jamaica. I think the impacts on Cuba, Haiti, and the Bahamas are going to be very substantial. The kinetic energy has to dissipate somewhere.
With the mountains, I think it's exceedingly unlikely that it maintains Cat 5 status across Jamaica, but I wouldn't put Cat 4 out of question. And this storm has overperformed so far, so who knows.Could it maintain Cat 5 even past Jamaica?
