Severe WX May 2019 Plains Severe Event

Two tornado warnings in PA and one in NY right now, so it's been an interesting day up this way to say the least. We've had warnings in 7 states plus D.C. today.

Very strong signature south of Laverne, NWS Norman says large tornado on the ground.

EDIT: okay yeah they weren't kidding, huge wedge

No CC drop. Either missed or is cycling. Incredibly strong storm in an incredible environment though; it's not done.

What a day though. I had not been paying attention at all until randomly checking chats and seeing that first big wedge down. Four days straight of significant tornado activity... THIS is a classic plains outbreak sequence, the likes of which we haven't seen for a few years.

I could've done without getting in on the action myself, but yeah, pretty crazy day both in the plains and the mid-Atlantic. I mean there were three supercells raking across West Virginia. Wild.

Looks like it's on the ground again. Still very impressive and could definitely produce another strong tornado.

Amazing inflow going into that thing. Wow.

Those massive wedges did hit a few things... scary higher end damage as one would expect.

The flooding may end up being the biggest story from this event. It’s shaping up to be a historic disaster in eastern OK and northwestern AR.

As a related aside, I wonder what the record for consecutive WPC high risk days is.

The Mississippi River is breaking records for days above flood stage and now they're opening the Morganza spill way which is usually last resort for flood mitigation. Likely will cause damage down in Cajun country.

Doesn't look like the rain is gonna let up anytime in the forecast either. Bad situation

I'll gladly trade Oklahoma the bone dry record high heat ridge for some of their unneeded rain though.
