Severe WX May 2019 Plains Severe Event

Barges are two minutes our according to the town Facebook. Have to hope the dam doesn't go. Unreal.

This was the place where a barge hit the I-40 bridge and caused it to collapse back in 2002.

Unsurprisingly the whole area is under a moderate risk from the WPC as well.

Never seen this type of message before transmitted by the NWS.

They're telling people if they choose to stay, they should write their names on their arms with permanent markers.

Believe it or not, it's not an uncommon thing to say in mandatory evacuations these days. Something similar has been said due to Hurricane surge before several times over the past few years.

Down to three tornado warnings, none of which are confirmed. Hopefully this is finally winding down.

Of course then we get to do it all over again tomorrow, there's already an ENH out in the southern plains again. Plus an ENH area up here in PA/MD (I'm right on the fringes of the ENH).

The supercells still active in the MDT are definitely not rotating as much as they were, but I don't trust isolated cells overnight with a LLJ cranking... suspect a couple more less high-end tornadoes to go.

TSA reports tor NE Skiatook about 15 mins ago but velocity isn't that strong in that storm

The one on its SW flank has been rotating occasionally but it seems to be a little outflow dominant at the moment. Meanwhile the Jay cell is legit completely gone lol, not even a shower left.

Eldon, MO TDS

Three fatalities now reported in Golden City. Some are claiming the tornado never lifted on a 80+ mile path of 2.5 hours, but that remains to be seen as it cycled a couple times

I would ordinarily say let's wait for daylight before believing fatality reports but that tornado was legitimately violent as shown by TDS depth and I guess it wouldn't be too surprising if the toll rose higher. Tragic day all around

Meanwhile, debris being lofted 7-9k ft in likely ongoing significant tornado SW of Jefferson City MO. May have struck Eldon.

Three deaths is three too many, but considering how populated the area is, the intensity of the tornado and the fact that it was after dark, it's lucky the death toll wasn't much higher.

Even if it was two tornadoes, then each one seemed to be down for around an hour. Definitely long tracker(s).

Yeah if it stays at three it'll be a near miracle, was clearly an intense family of tornadoes.

Damage is now being reported in Eldon but don't know what extent.
