Speaking of Laura, Ida's track is looking eerily similar to that storm and Last Island 1856.Wonder if the NHC is going to borrow a page from their Laura playbook and use the term "unsurvivable storm surge" again. Given how bad things are looking right now I wouldn't be surprised at all.
The hurricane's small eye is currently over land plus the storm is battling intense wind shear so that's no surprise.Ida is not looking quite as healthy on satellite.

Apparently there are problems with drainage pumps in New Orleans. When it rains, it pours (literally).
