BamaTracker reporting 1488 hospitalizations today, down from just over 1600 a few days ago. Will have to see if it is a data glitch or if we are past peak.
I appreciate your updatesCases and case reporting are hit or miss with the ADPH, but the 983 reported cases today are the least in a day since July 7th.
Interesting thread. I suggest y’all give it a read.
I don’t know much about epidemiology but a lot of his sources are peer reviewed medical journals.
I didn't see a single mention of social distancing in this twitter thread. Can you point it out?I hope he is right. The problems I have with what he is saying is that the media isn’t covering it. That’s false. Also, he is presenting a hypothesis, that if incorrect, would have dire consequences. Until he is proven correct, social distancing is the answer.
I never said he mentioned social distancing. I’m saying his idea doesn’t have enough support, so Ibthink we have to social distance.I didn't see a single mention of social distancing in this twitter thread. Can you point it out?
Also, as someone with a scientific, but not a medical background, there is no such thing as being proven correct in science. There is evidence to support your hypothesis but nothing is ever 100%. I think he has decently sourced evidence (through the scientific literature) to support what he’s saying in his case.

It is safe to say now Alabama is past-peak, along with all the other southern states. The ADPH's data is terrible compared to other states, but we should start seeing a steady slide in hospitalization data.
I believe 2 weeks after Labor Day will be the most telling. If a college campus can survive a holiday, that’s a good sign.0.83% positivity rate for COVID among 30,000+ UA students. Thats really low and great news. Number of hospitalizations related to COVID have declined in the DCH system as well....students have been moving back in the last 10 days. The next 1-2 weeks will tell a lot as it seems everything lags 2-3 weeks.
Low COVID-19 Positivity Rate For Alabama Students
According to an article by Michael Casagrande of AL.com, the University of Alabama's early test results show a low positivity rate for students who have been tested prior to their return back onto campus.953thebear.com
Huntsville Hospital's System is seeing the large drop in hospitalizations now. I don't have data from around Birmingham or Montgomery, but I suspect they are following the same pattern.
