Debris lofted and found over 175 miles away from the Bassfield EF4.
I think that an anchor bolted home that has been swept THAT clean could use an EF4 rating, but hey I haven’t heard the rationale behind it. I’m sure there’s a reason.Apparently surveyors at LIX weren't able to actually go on foot to the more heavily damaged locations and hadn't even included that data point in the preliminary rating yet; definitely could still see a further upgrade with additional analysis but mid EF3 is certainly closer than high EF2
Just so we're clear this is the damage in question

Not very far away from the area that was affected by the large EF3 that hit Barnesville on 4/27/11.Thomaston, GA rated half mile wide EF3; throw another one on the sizable EF3 pile
What are the velocity totals on the velocity images? Here are a couple of radar shots I got of the two violent tornadoes in southern MS on Sunday. Unfortunately, I was monitoring a storm near me in AL and I forgot to also get a shot of the CC.
The second tornado out of the first supercell (Bassfield) was the third strongest velocity signature I've ever seen, behind only El Reno 2013 and Mangum, OK 5/9/15.What are the velocity totals on the velocity images?
Incredible. Complete and utter clear clean sweep there. This was a frame home I’m assuming?Extreme damage along this portion of the Bassfield-Soso track. Scouring, high end tree damage, structures swept away with nothing left.

Wow, that is incredible damage.I usually don't say this but Bassfield increasingly looks like it has the hallmarks of an EF5. I doubt it gets rated that as you'd have to have an exceptionally well built house hit to verify it, but 100% was at EF5 intensity.
Definitely the contextualWow, that is incredible damage.
Definitely the contextual evidence is there. Which is what I feel many surveyors go on. Just a matter of what these structures were.Extreme damage along this portion of the Bassfield-Soso track. Scouring, high end tree damage, structures swept away with nothing left.

I very rarely see this type of damage. The contextual damage is on par with some of the most violent damage I have seen from other F5/EF5 tornadoes. You also have to consider this tornado was moving fast.Extreme damage along this portion of the Bassfield-Soso track. Scouring, high end tree damage, structures swept away with nothing left.

That was a long track meso from North Louisiana into GA. Most CAMs nailed that track.Spann lists Dora/Bagley as being rated EF2; that makes three tornadoes in Walker.
