Severe WX April 11th-13th, 2020 Severe Weather Threat

yeah thats a bit strange....

Dynamics aren't great and many storms are right on top of each other. Lack of CAPE. Plenty of shear and SRH. Raining a lot in front of the path of the storms and I think that has offset the greater instability the warm front was bringing in. Really a question of timing. Little more time for the warm front to continue bringing instability in and you have a bit of a different situation. Event is not over, but my focus is now on if any storms get going in South AL where conditions are much more favorable currently.

Uh oh Reports that James Spann just took his jacket off.

But you also have a 70 kt+ LLJ that is pumping warm, moist Gulf air into the region. All of central AL south of the the I20/59 area is in a very unstable environment.

And as long as we have storms back in Southern MS and Louisiana moving towards Alabama the risk is still there. We only need the better instability to move a bit more north and it then captures some of the current storms that are tracking towards the BHM metro area. No one should let their guard down.

HRRR has this thing getting organized over the next couple hours. We'll see i guess.

It has seemingly rained all day in north AL, I know we have had some breaks, but I did not think we’d have so much rain. I’d be shocked if we have anything tornadic from Morgan County and north; but I’ll be watching to be sure

HRRR cranks it between 10-12a for central al

really interested in those cells coming out of LA

Basement's flooding; had about five hours of torrential rain and looks like more on the way. Ridiculously messy storm mode this far up, still watching the warm sector though

The creek just outside my house is overflowing. Fortunately, it'll have to rise substantially to even threaten my house.
