Days like today is why you don't just break out the red and pink sharpies based solely the ceiling of the event. Would have had weather weenies, storm chasers, the general public, and Farmer John all breathing down the SPC's neck. Not to mention the amount of people that wouldn't pay attention to the next high-end event because this one didn't perform.

Looking at how some of these scenarios with potentially high ceilings but low floors (such as today) sometimes wind up being closer to the floor, that occasionally makes me wonder how many fairly unremarkable weather days in the past had at least some potential to get ugly if things went even slightly differently (especially in the era before severe weather forecasting became a thing).
