2025 Political Thread

I've kindve simmered down on paying attention to any political stuff over the past year. But I got to say one thing, can we all agree that the change from Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America is silly? I thought it was some meme when I heard it, but was shocked to find out it was changed.

Also this thread is rather entertaining, I'm enjoying reading through the 9 pages

Well yes, drawings that show black people labeled as n-words should not be put in schools and should be used to say this person had racist tendencies at one time.

This video is simply one man being provocative. It’s a waste of time, in my opinion, but I don’t care that he does it.

I would let small children read Cat in the Hat and listen to Old Town Road. I would not let them look at Dr Seuss’ racist drawings or watch this music video.

I’m extremely happy that this person has the freedom to crest this video and share it with others. Religious freedom is one of the main foundations of America.
 
DEI may have been to blame for the Delta Airlines crash. No proof of course, but not long ago they promised to hire people as pilots because of their marginalized status rather than their qualifications, (e.g. experience in knowing how to fly a plane). Since disability status is one of the many ways modern day Neo-Marxism divides people into "oppressors" and "oppressed", Delta made sure to hire some disabled people in the name of equity (including those with epilepsy).

Rubio, though a major disappointment, can actually string together a series of intelligent sentences.

Had this simply been Trump's message, many more people would have bought in. Instead, he says "Derp".

(I must concede that you have made this thread entertaining though. Please do keep posting even if most of us disagree with you.)

From my perspective you further confirm that I am indeed pretty centrist/libertarian, since 50% of your posts wanna make me facepalm, while the other 50% I actually agree with.

It's also funny how the political spectrum essentially shifts depending on your location - in a place like Texas I'd probably be seen as at least semi-liberal, while in California I'm considered a staunch conservative, and by (modern) German standards I'm basically "far-right".

It also depends on what year it is. Bill Clinton used to be against illegal immigration almost as much as Trump.

While questions remains about the Pilots and what the cause of the crash was, it's worth pointing out that your point might be better if it was a Delta airlines flight.

It was an Endeavor Air flight. Which is a subsidiary of Delta, but when making unsubstantiated claims, it helps to start with having the basic facts correct.

I trust this source pretty much since the person who started it used to be a DEI trainer herself and used be a Trump hater until one day she realized just how crazy things were getting on her side. She listens in on the socialist conferences every Saturday and explains everything from "Q*eers For Palestine" really means to how "whiteness" is synonymous with capitalism.

Correct. I'd also add that it could be a mechanical cause, a weather issue, a training issue, or, as it almost always is, a combination of multiple factors aligning together. There's a reason the Swiss cheese model is famous in aviation accident investigations.

Yes, Delta mainline flies to Toronto. However, Jacob is 100% correct. This wasn't a Delta mainline flight. It was an Endeavor Air flight.

I take it you don't fly that often. We're not being pedantic. There's a major difference in pay, levels of pilot experience, and other factors when comparing a regional airline like Endeavor Air to a mainline flight operated by a major carrier.

The DC collision crash wasn't an American Airlines mainline flight, either. It was PSA. Before the DC accident the last commercial passenger jet crash was in 2009 on Colgan Air (another regional carrier that ended up being purchased by Pinnacle who later became Endeavor).

I think the last major mainline crash was the November 2001 AA crash in Queens. They are extremely rare.
