DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 300 AM GMT (0300 UTC), the center of Subtropical Storm Theta was
located near latitude 28.8 North, longitude 40.3 West. The storm is
moving toward the east near 15 mph (24 km/h), and a general
east-northeast motion is expected to continue during the next two to
three days.

Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts.
Some slight strengthening is possible during the next 12 to 24 hours
followed by little change in strength through Thursday.

Winds of 40 mph extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km) from the
center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches).

The new storm (soon to be Iota) looks like it's going to go right over the same areas as Eta did in Central America and might flirt with major hurricane strength on the way there.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane
Iota, located over the southwestern Caribbean Sea near the coast of
northeastern Nicaragua.

1. A new area of low pressure could form in a couple of days over the
central or southwestern Caribbean Sea. Environmental conditions
are forecast to be conducive for some development, and a tropical
depression could form by the end of the week while the system moves
slowly westward or west-southwestward across the southwestern
Caribbean Sea.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...medium...40 percent.
