COVID-19 detected in United States

I’m not convinced anything has flattened. If our testing capacity increases and the plateau remains, then I’ll believe it.
I certainly believe the rate of infections have begun to level (not completely, but it’s a start) in New York and New Orleans (only two I’ve really looked at). Dr Fauci said so himself that we are starting to see it in New York. It’s going to show that what we’re doing is finally beginning to work and we need to continue.

Remember when look at at test results that we are looking pretty far in the past due to the lag. I’m sure we will see some big jumps as soon as we start testing at a reasonable level, however, i think we are doing the right things. I haven’t left the farm in over a week.

And today, one day later, it projects over 7k deaths in the state for AL.

Might as well be the 384 hour GFS projecting things.
I heard a report earlier that Alabama isn't releasing hospitalization numbers to the public. Does anyone know if that is still true?

They need to be open as possible with updated information. You have all these 9/11 truthers having a field day already...

Check out Chip Brownlee on twitter. He's been doing some great coverage of the virus in Alabama.

Ivey’s spokesperson said the governor isn’t ready to take such drastic measures yet.

Meanwhile in Los Angeles... a guy tried to ram the USNS Mercy with a train. He failed and was charged with "Train Wrecking". Add that to laws that I have never thought of needing.
The Pacific Harbor Line train derailed Tuesday, running through the end of the track and crashing through barriers, finally coming to rest about 250 yards from the docked naval ship.
Federal prosecutors allege train engineer Eduardo Moreno, 44, of San Pedro intended to hit the ship, saying he thought it was "suspicious" and did not believe "the ship is what they say it's for.'"
The train crashed into a concrete barrier at the end of the track, smashed through a steel barrier and a chain-link fence, slid through one parking lot and then a second lot filled with gravel and hit a second chain-link fence. It came to rest after passing under a ramp leading to the Vincent Thomas Bridge. The train remained in that position Wednesday.

Ive been practicing a lot of social isolation in my boat on the local lakes here in NW Alabama to keep from going stir crazy. If Gov Ivey goes full lock down, will I be prevented from taking my boat to the lake and fishing by myself?

From what I gather in other states, no. We're under 24/7 lockdown in Tuscaloosa per the mayor, but we can still go outside and exercise and do other outdoor stuff. But they are enforcing it if they see large groups not distancing the required distance.

Ok good.. thanks Kory.

One thing I did see last Saturday while fishing on Wheeler Lake. I was in the mouth of a big slough fishing and I hear this loud rap music coming from somewhere out on the main lake. I notice a large ski boat moving slowly toward the slough I was fishing in. (It was real windy that day and the slough was protected from the wind). When the boat got near, I noticed it was packed full of kids... 7 girls all in their bikinis and 2 guys in their swim trunks. They came idling by me and most of them were holding beers and from their actions and comments, they had drank more than 1. And they looked real young... I'm thinking the girls were somewhere between 16-20 yrs old. There were so many crowded in the boat they were having to sit on top of each other. It was like a floating petri dish for COVID19. I pulled out of there and went somewhere else.

We have a spot on Lake Nichol where a lot of the college students congregate with cliff diving and rope swings. We still have a decent number of students in town at their apartments and I knew some people who went up to Lake Nichol the other day and the police were enforcing it and making the kids go home because there were more than the 25 person limit and they were not following the rules put forth.

Shocked, I know. College kids not following the rules.

I'm curious to see if golf courses will remain open if Ivey issues a stay at home order. I'm hoping to make it out to the course a good bit in April/May.
