Probably my favorite tornado of the outbreak in terms of looks

I wouldn't say it hit the ceiling, but it got pretty darn close. Only thing that really holds me back from saying it hit the ceiling is the relatively narrow corridor the supercells occurred in, with a good chunk of 10% and 15% not getting anything other than the QLCS.

It was a hell of a QLCS. Last time I saw that many SIGTORS was 3/31
 
Going to guess there was at least three dozen tornadoes today between the supercell tornadofest in central IL to NW IN, some of the other cells elsewhere, and the various QLCS tornadoes. Probably closer to 50.

This is silly. While I know reminiscing about FFC every other severe thread is a favorite past time, it gets old with these statements.

Have there been egregious misses from FFC in the past? Yes. Have there been egregious misses from other offices, even those up on lofty pedestals? Yep. Any miss is a failure IMO, so I’m not excusing it. Unfortunately, as long as humans are running radar ops, every office will have misses or occasionally delayed warnings with QLCS events despite one’s best effort.

I won’t lie, FFC had its fair share of issues 10-12 years ago. Leadership changes in the last decade have improved ops significantly. The retired on active duty peeps left in that same timeframe. A lot of additional staff turnover occurred before and through COVID. The current crop, while not perfect, are pretty sharp and forward thinking. The office is far from horrific. And maybe we’ll be able to fill some of the radar holes across N GA in the next year or two. That will significantly help those on radar ops.

I won’t clutter the thread anymore, but my DM’s are open if you want to continue the discussion.

My apologies. I wasn’t trying to cast the current situation at your at your WFO under a bad light. I haven’t noticed any pattern of issues in recent years, and was largely referring to the Easter 2020 outbreak incident, and what I remember hearing through the grapevine at that time. You guys overall do a pretty great job of warning and surveying based on what I’ve seen since then.

Also unrelated but speaking of DMs, I’ve been trying to gather some additional info on the North Georgia tornadoes from 4/27 2011 and I’d love to discuss them if you’re willing. Just let me know if that’s a possibility and I’ll message you.
